PCE Prep Course in Ottawa!!!

Pro Physio Academy is hosting a 10 week Clinical PCE Prep Course from
July 25-September 26, 2015 for the November Clinical PCE.

PURPOSE
Pro Physio Academy aims to enable candidates to enhance performance and clinical skills required to successfully complete the clinical PCE. The program will include theory and practical sessions followed by demonstration, one on one practice sessions, performance evaluation, written and verbal feedback, group discussions and tips on how to improve communication.

• July 25 - September 26, 2015, every Saturday, 10 sessions, 9 am-4 pm

TOPICS COVERED
Class 1 - 3: NEUROLOGY/NEUROMUSCULAR ASSESSMENT & INTERVENTIONS
AM Sessions 9 AM -12 PM:
Assessment of: Sensory, Coordination, Tone, Balance, Cranial Nerves, Transfers, Bed Mobility, Wheelchair Mobility, Deep Tendon Reflexes, Gait, Gait Aids, etc.

PM Sessions 1 PM- 4 PM:
Scenario-based practice sessions with evaluation, feedback and group discussion.

Class 4 - 6: MUSCULOSKELETAL ASSESSMENT & INTERVENTION
AM Sessions 9 AM -12 PM:
Special Tests, Goniometry, Manual Muscle Testing, Dermatomes, Myotomes, Cervical & Lumbar Scan, Post-Surgical Rehab, Exercise prescription/progression, Education on associated conditions, goal setting self management programs, etc.

PM Sessions 1 PM- 4 PM:
Scenario-based practice sessions with evaluation, feedback and group discussion.

Class 7 - 8: CARDIOVASCULAR/PULMONARY ASSESSMENT & INTERVENTION
AM Sessions 9 AM -12 PM:
C-V: Subjective, Function, Arterial, Venous, RSD, DVT, Post-surgical cardiac rehab (CABG), Education/Exercise prescriptions for various cardiac conditions, aerobic training, Edema management, etc. Pulmonary: Inspection, Palpation, Percussion, Auscultation, COPD, Pneumonia, Cystic Fibrosis, Restrictive lung disorders, TB, Asthma, Post- surgical (abdominal/thoracic), Breathing exercises, Postural drainage positions/techniques, Huffing/Coughing, Positioning for Dyspnea relief, Secretion removal techniques, etc.

PM Sessions 1 PM- 4 PM:
Scenario-based practice sessions with evaluation, feedback and group discussion.

Class 9: MULTISYSTEM ASSESSMENT & INTERVENTION
AM Sessions 9 AM -12 PM:
Diabetes Mellitus, Ankylosing Spondylitis, RA, Burns, Hemophilia, Pregnancy, Pediatrics, Cancer, DMD, Fibromyalgia, Obesity, Geriatrics, Therapeutic Modalities, etc.

PM Sessions 1 PM- 4 PM:
Scenario-based practice sessions with evaluation, feedback and group discussion.

Class 10: MOCK EXAM
• 16 Stations - 8 are 10 minute stations; 8 are 5 minute stations followed by 5 minute written stations
• Checklist review
• Feedback session
• Group discussion
• List of important Topics to review prior to the exam
• Final Tips

ADDITIONAL MOCK EXAM
• October 17, 2015, to be decided
