Neurological Conditions
Physiotherapy can help people afflicted with neurological conditions such as stroke, quadriplegia, paraplegia, cerebral palsy, Parkinson disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. The Registered Physiotherapist will perform an assessment to determine the impairment and design an appropriate treatment plan. Many neurological conditions lead to difficulties with motor control, gait or and activities of daily living. These impairments can be improved with exercises focusing on balance, strengthening, range of motion, and simulated task practice. Neurological conditions present differently in each person and the physiotherapist will individualize the program for you. A neurological physiotherapy and rehabilitation session involves extensive one-on-one treatment with the physiotherapist and kinesiologist. They may also choose to use manual techniques, electrical modalities and will provide education regarding your condition and methods to maintain your function.
